Kirinyaga County | Kenya

Kenyan coffee enjoys a celebrated reputation for its bold and distinctive flavor. La Minita cups hundreds of samples each year and selects only the most intense and sophisticated top auction lots. We have a special fondness for brilliant Kenya coffees with their wine-like acidity and ripe fruit flavors.

Gakuyu-ini Factory is the wet mill of Thirikwa Farmers' Cooperative Society. Thirikwa FCS has about 1550 members with over 670 members being female farmers. The members have approximately 400,000 coffee trees. They produce about 1,420 MT of cherries annually.

Kirinyaga County sits at the foothills of Mount Kenya, some 112km from Nairobi and borders Embu County to the east, Machakos County to the south, Murang’a County to south west and Nyeri County to the west. The county is named after Mount Kenya, which is known to the locals as Kirinyaga, meaning the crest of whiteness, synonymous with its snow-capped peaks.
