Hacienda RIo Negro
RIo Negro, Costa Rica
In 2001, Hacienda Rio Negro became the first farm in Costa Rica to become Rainforest Alliance Certified.
Located in remote southern Costa Rica, the Rio Negro region enjoys a well-defined rainy season, which promotes optimal coffee flowering and high quality production. This is an area rich in coffee culture, where producers are committed to quality and proud of what they produce.
There are approximately 700 acres of coffee in production with the majority of the trees being the Catuai and Caturra variety.
Beneficio RIo Negro
Recently renovated, Beneficio Rio Negro combines the best of traditional and modern technologies. Rio Negro is Rainforest Alliance Certified. The mill generates its own hydroelectric power and coffee beans are dried using the same biomass furnace introduced at Beneficio Rio Tarrazú.
