The new crop from Costa Rica is beginning to arrive! In this month’s edition we have news about an exciting new coffee from women producers plus new arrivals, where to find us at the SCA Expo, and more!
Introducing Doña Isa: Exceptional Coffee, Empowering Women.
Beyond our own Costa Rican farms, La Minita partners with dozens of small producers each harvest. This year, we're thrilled to introduce Doña Isa, our first women-produced trademark coffee, honoring a beloved member of our La Minita family. This exceptional offering is a testament to the powerful collaboration with 23 of our most dedicated women producers in Costa Rica.
More Than Just Coffee: Sustainable Growth.
We're investing in more than just premium coffee. By paying additional premiums directly to these producers, we're supporting sustainable farming practices, vital social projects, and crucial mentorship. This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering women, strengthening our partnerships, and cultivating a brighter future together.
There are two variations of this coffee: Doña Isa Beneficio Rio Negro from producers in Coto Brus and Doña Isa Beneficio Rio Tarrazú from producers in Los Santos.
Doña Isa BRN is available now at CTI NJ and we are moving some west to the Annex. The pre-ship sample showed a balanced cup profile with citrus, cocoa, and a nice sweetness. The arrival was even better with notes of nectarine, plum, and ripe cherry, balanced with a smooth mouthfeel.
Doña Isa BRT is scheduled for a May arrival and is a very nice, sweet cup with notes of toasted almond, citrus, and golden raisin. We will update you with arrival cup notes once the coffee lands.
If you’re interested in either of these coffees or want more information, please reach out to your salesperson or contact us via the form on our website. We’d love to hear from you!
This Month in Costa Rica
While shipments of the new crop are beginning to arrive in the US, our farms are already looking to the next harvest. Last week we saw a beautiful flowering at La Pradera, which of course marks the beginning of a new growing cycle.
At Rio Negro, our team has been working on road maintenance, a crucial part of preparing the farm for another busy year. It might not be glamorous, but it’s this kind of work that keeps things running smoothly when the harvest arrives.
FIND US AT SCA EXPO HOUSTON!
We’re looking forward to returning for another edition of the SCA Expo in April. Our team will be at booth #1125 all weekend with plenty of coffee to share. We look forward to seeing you there!
