We just returned from a quick visit to our mill Empreses de Antioquia in Jardin Colombia. The trip was short but packed with some great coffees and some new farms coming on board.
While cupping over 30 farm lots, there were a lot of gems! Small farms from 5 bags all the way up to 50 bags lots. We met with a few farmers and talked about their concerns about pricing, pests and the future. The main concern right now is pricing, the quality is there if the pricing is sustainable. Our premium program for farmers ensures they are getting paid a fair and equitable price for their hard work. This program over the years we have seen cup improvements each crop, also infrastructure improvements on the farms with these increased premiums. We will return in December to Jardin with clients for producer visits and a lot more cuppings!
